Hey, y’all! Andrew here.
I’m proud to say that I’ve switched to using eco-friendly packaging for my business. This is something I’ve wanted to do for quite some time but I wanted to make sure I went ALL IN to do it. As you can see, I’ve switched my boxes to kraft boxes which are made from 1/3 less trees and are recyclable. I’ve also made it a point to do away with labels and stickers and utilize stamps in their place to reduce unnecessary waste. And the bow on my macaron boxes? Yeah, that’s burlap (which is 100% biodegradable!) I’m also making sure that I stamp each box with a small reminder to recycle my packaging. Who said saving the Earth can’t be delicious?
Hi! I’m Andrew
I’m 27 years old. I’m a dad, a husband and I guess I bake a little.
Macarons by Andrew came to life simply because I was determined to master the dessert that so many more experienced bakers tend to stay away from. Many people don’t know this, but it took me almost 2 years to master my macaron recipe while also working full time and having an infant to care for! My first macaron sale was Valentine’s Day 2017-I was expecting to sell maybe 5-8 dozens, but I ended up selling about 30! Since then, business kind of took off.
The idea of cakes terrified me. There’s already so many options out there and I really had to make a name for myself in the cake world if I wanted a piece of that (pun not intended-but I’m proud of it). With the same determination, I just kind of went for it. I stuck to something I was obsessed with and soon became the (self proclaimed) king of drip cakes. Although I’ve expanded my cake designs to beyond just drip cakes, I think I’ve done a good job sticking to my own signature style. My favorite thing is that my clients don’t come to me for specific cake designs-they come to me for MY cake designs. And that alone is one of my biggest accomplishments in this business.
I’m 100% self-taught. This is something I used to shy away from saying but I’ve learned to be proud of it. I learned to bake via YouTube, Instagram and anxiety attacks. Since I started out, I’ve been featured in the SA Current, on the @BestFoodSanAntonio Instagram feed and I’ve been featured by multiple food and travel influencers along the way.
Anyway-I feel awkward now after talking about myself that much. But I do want to leave off by saying THANK YOU. I’m extremely grateful for the support that I continue to receive. My clients (new and returning) truly are making my small business dreams come true.
